DON'T ANGRY ME😠

Anger is one of the most real emotion that human beings encounter! It is innate and ingrained in the subconscious, although the intensity or extent is determined by various factors such as culture, environment, past experiences, trauma, etc. Whatever be the reason for anger, the outcome or its impact is negative in most cases.

Hmm…positive outcomes of anger? Possible too, I guess! I have had real life situations where bashing someone with words have worked beautifully…well, to get things done! Or what about warding off unpleasant people?

Oh, my thoughts wander! Back to MY anger issues!

Following the most basic genetic law of Mendelian inheritance, along with all the good stuffs (height, intelligence, etc.), I inherited anger from my grandfather and father🙄!! From a very young age, I have always had a QUICK FUSE! I had serious anger issues as a teenager, to the extent of bleeding from the nose (twice to be precise!) when provoked wrongly! There had been also times when my short temper shot up to such high extents that I had palpitations and panting!

Well...all in the past, I assure you🙈!!

One good thing about my kind of anger is, it diffuses quickly! My anger tends to come down if I get distracted or have let it out somehow! But that's beside the point! There came a time in my life where the bad effect of anger was staring me in my face! When I met my boyfriend (now my husband!) I realized that to be able to be with someone and be happy, I had to control my anger, or it will destroy many beautiful things in my life!

And so, I mellowed down😬! How? In time, I learnt to manage /manipulate/channel my anger!

Well, here are a few tips that have worked for me so far:

1. When you are starting to get angry, it's always best to excuse yourself and leave the place. Best thing would be to go to the loo! But hey! Go to your own safe place, hmm!

2. Breathing deeply doesn't work, trust me! If you feel like crying, DO IT! But alone! That will fast track the process of calming down!

3. If you are with a roomful of people and starting to get angry, refrain from making a statement... by faking cough! That buys you time to realign your thoughts.

4. If shouting or screaming is an option and nobody is bound to get hurt, DO IT! Scream! Hurl abuses aloud...but only at a wall! Not a person! You don’t want to regret it later, right?

5. The moment irritation starts building up, keep your phone/iPad away from you. It is the first thing that gets hurled!

5. Usually I start washing some dishes to distract my mind and cool down! Or start dusting!

6. Touch or hug a loved one for 30 secs or more! It really works wonders and brings down the heart rate! When I am extremely angry, I touch my dog, Ikraan’s head and start petting him. Dog happy, me happy! Or I hug my hubby!

7. When I get very angry, I start getting very tired. If possible, I lie down, put on headphones, and try to drift off to sleep.

TI hope these tips are useful for you!

Conversely, what do you do to manage your anger? Any hacks? Share it with me!
